These kitchen knives are a hit in the Great Dixter kitchen and were brought to us by a friend from Miki City in Japan, famous across the country for its blacksmiths, tools and hardware.
Each Tanaka knife is hand-forged and made from 16-layer laminated steel and a laminated hardwood handle. Shigeki Tanaka is the fourth generation of the family who have made knives in the traditional way from a small workshop in Miki City since 1946. He is a relation of the makers of our Onoyoshi secateurs.
